The National Watermelon Promotion Board (NWPB) mission is to increase demand for watermelon through promotion, research and education. The Foodservice Program strives to place more watermelon on menus year-round, offering menu development and promotion support to operators across the country. Watermelon's health, value and versatility lend itself to all menus. Although a mature product, watermelon consumption per capita in the U.S. was an estimated 16.3 pounds in 2017, up from 15.9 in 2016.
